Root Canal Treatment
When a tooth becomes infected due to decay or serious trauma involving the pulp (nerve) of the tooth, a root canal treatment may be performed to remove the infected sections. After the infected material has been removed, the tooth will be filled with sealing material and a temporary filling will be placed.
To complete the process after infection has been removed, a permanent crown or filling will be used to seal and support the tooth. This procedure is normally done in one or several separate appointments depending on the case.
